Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, will mail updated property valuations to over 92,000 property owners in April as part of a countywide reassessment project led by Vision Government Solutions. This reassessment, initiated following a lawsuit settlement, aims to ensure tax fairness by aligning property taxes with current market values. Property owners can request informal reviews of their valuations online or by phone through May. Official change-of-assessment notices will be mailed in July, allowing owners 40 days to file formal appeals. The new valuations will impact taxes starting in 2026. According to Tim Barr, Vision's project director, the reassessment seeks to ensure that similar properties pay the same taxes, considering factors like age, location, and renovations. He also noted that while valuations may increase, millage rates will decrease, potentially leading to varied tax outcomes.
