California Residents Sue to Block Military Aid to Israel Over Gaza Conflict

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

In Northern California, over 500 residents have joined a class-action lawsuit aimed at blocking future U.S. military aid to Israel in relation to the war in Gaza. The lawsuit targets California Democratic Congress members Jared Huffman and Mike Thompson and was filed in November 2021 by the group Taxpayers Against Genocide.

Seth Donnelly, a leader of the group, stated, "We want to get to where the source is. The place where the decision is made about where our tax money goes. And that place is Congress. They control the use of the money. Our two representatives in the House, Mike Thompson, representing some counties, and Jared Huffman, representing others, voted on April 20 to send another $26 billion in military aid to Israel. And at that time, the evidence of genocide was overwhelming."
