akon to Rework Entire Catalog in Country Style

Edited by: Olga Sukhina

Akon, the rapper and producer known for hits like "Smack That" and "I Wanna Love You," is venturing into country music. He plans to rework his entire music catalog in a country style. This project has reportedly been in the works for five years and will feature collaborations with other country artists.

Akon rose to fame in 2004 and achieved significant commercial success with his album Konvicted. Two of his songs, "I Wanna Love You" (featuring Snoop Dogg) and "Smack That" (featuring Eminem), simultaneously held the top two positions on the Billboard Hot 100. He also collaborated with artists such as Michael Jackson, Dr. Dre, and Gwen Stefani.

Akon's decision follows a trend of pop and rap artists exploring country music. Snoop Dogg is working on a gospel album with a country collaboration, and BigXthaPlug has released a duet with Bailey Zimmerman. Akon is also set to appear on Gary LeVox's song "Hold the Umbrella."
