Hip-hop/R&B girl group XG made their Coachella 2025 debut on April 13, marking a historic moment as the only Japanese act performing this year. Their performance on the Sahara Stage, Coachella's largest indoor venue, was a groundbreaking achievement, as no Japanese artist has ever headlined this stage before.
XG's setlist included tracks like "HESONOO + X-GENE," "WOKE UP," and "GRL GVNG," the latter being the first Japanese track to reach #1 on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter. They also debuted "SHINOBI (DANCE BREAK)" and performed "LEFT RIGHT" and "IN THE RAIN." The set concluded with uptempo tracks like "TGIF," "PUPPET SHOW," and "IYKYK," and ended with "SHOOTING STAR."
The performance was live-streamed on YouTube, generating global reactions. On X, the hashtag #XGCHELLA trended worldwide at #5. XG is scheduled to return to the same stage on April 20 for Weekend 2. Currently, XG is on their first world tour, "The first HOWL", with 47 shows in 35 cities across 18 countries.
