The film adaptation of the globally popular video game "Minecraft" has exploded onto the scene with a record-breaking opening weekend. "Minecraft" grossed $157 million in the US, making it the biggest film debut of 2025 and surpassing "Captain America: Brave New World" ($88.5 million). This also marks the most successful opening for a video game adaptation ever, exceeding "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" ($146 million). Globally, the movie has already grossed $301 million after just three days. In Germany, "Minecraft" collected $10.6 million during the weekend, securing the top spot. The film's success has exceeded all expectations, with initial US insider projections estimating around $60 million, later revised to $80-100 million. The dominance of "Minecraft" at the box office is evident when compared to its competitors. In the US, the Jason Statham action film "A Working Man" only managed $7.3 million, securing second place.
