Austrian Music Market Soars: Revenue Climbs 7% to €254 Million, Fueled by Streaming and Vinyl Revival in 2024

The Austrian music market continues its upward trajectory, marking its eighth consecutive year of growth with a 7% increase in total revenue, reaching €254 million in 2024. Streaming services are the primary driver, generating €185.8 million, a 10.9% rise, and accounting for 85.1% of the total market. While CDs still hold a slight lead in physical formats with €14.5 million in sales, a decrease of 18.5%, vinyl records are rapidly catching up, reaching €13.1 million with a 6.5% growth. Streaming hit a record of 21.1 billion songs streamed. Downloads contributed €3.4 million, DVDs €1.1 million, and licensing revenue through LSG increased by 2.5% to €33.3 million. Synchronisation rights for music in films, series, and advertising grew by 60% to €2.4 million. Taylor Swift dominated the album charts with five albums in the top 10. Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" was the most popular song. The Nockis topped the Austrian album charts with "Gefühlsecht," while RAF Camora and Ski Aggu's "Liebe Grüße" led the song charts.
