Xrpl Transaction Volume Drops in May Despite Institutional Growth

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) experienced a decrease in transaction volume in May 2025, despite increasing institutional adoption. According to XPMarket data, XRPL processed over 50.1 million transactions last month, a drop from 54.8 million in April. Active wallets, however, rose from 252,000 to 278,362 during the same period (Source: CryptoSlate, May 2025).

Despite the growth in active wallets, only about 10%, or 28,000, interacted with decentralized applications (dApps) during May. Most of these users engaged with only one application. NFT minting, however, soared from 1.76 million in April to 2.56 million in May, indicating growing interest in digital asset creation (Source: CryptoSlate, May 2025).

In May, several stablecoins, including EURØP, USDB, and XSGD, were introduced into the XRPL ecosystem. The Dubai Land Department (DLD) also selected XRPL to power its real estate tokenization platform. XRPL's low transaction fees and fast settlement times make it appealing for institutions exploring blockchain solutions (Source: CryptoSlate, May 2025).
