In Washington, D.C., on June 27, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives advanced the Deploying American Blockchains Act of 2025 (H.R.1664), a bipartisan bill focused on promoting blockchain adoption. (Source: Reuters, June 27, 2025) The bill, introduced on February 27, 2025, directs the Secretary of Commerce to lead national efforts in blockchain and DLT deployment.

The legislation mandates the Secretary to advise the President on blockchain and develop policies to address deployment risks. It also requires advisory committees to be established within 180 days of enactment to support blockchain adoption.

Following its passage in the House, H.R.1664 has been received by the Senate for further consideration. This follows the Senate's passage of the GENIUS Act on June 17, 2025, which is now under review in the House. The GENIUS Act establishes a federal regulatory framework for stablecoins, requiring issuers to maintain reserves backed by liquid assets and monthly disclosure of reserve composition.
