Deutsche Bank to Launch Crypto Custody in 2026

Edited by: Elena Weismann

On July 1, 2025, Bloomberg reported that Deutsche Bank, a major European financial institution, plans to launch a Bitcoin and digital asset custody service in 2026. This move signifies growing institutional interest in cryptocurrencies and a shift towards integrating digital assets into traditional finance.

Deutsche Bank is partnering with Bitpanda and Taurus SA for this project. Bitpanda will provide trading infrastructure expertise, while Taurus, already supported by Deutsche Bank in 2023, will contribute its secure digital asset custody experience.

This initiative follows Deutsche Bank's interest in crypto since 2020 and its application for a digital asset license in 2023. The launch of the custody service is part of a long-term strategy to capitalize on the increasing integration of digital assets. (Source: Bloomberg, July 1, 2025)
