Kakarot Targets Real-Time Ethereum Layer 1 Block Proving by End of 2025

Edited by: Yuliya Shumai

Kakarot, with backing from Vitalik Buterin and StarkWare, aims to achieve real-time Ethereum Layer 1 block proving by the end of 2025. The startup has successfully implemented an Ethereum Virtual Machine and plans to utilize a STARK proof system.

Kakarot intends to publish a STARK proof within 8 seconds, which is faster than Ethereum's 12-second block production time. This will be achieved using its zkEVM built in Cairo. The primary objective is to improve the efficiency of Ethereum smart contracts and transaction validation.

With $6 million in funding, Kakarot seeks to offer a diverse ZK-EVM stack, thereby reducing dependence on single systems and providing an alternative to the currently dominant stack. Kakarot's contrarian stack is a boon to ZK-EVM diversity and experimentation.
