Beijing launched a two-year plan on April 29 to boost blockchain development and adoption across key industries. The plan, spearheaded by multiple Beijing municipal bodies, aims for implementation from 2024 to 2027.
The plan recognizes blockchain as critical for industrial digitalization and enhancing digital asset value extraction. Beijing has already invested heavily in blockchain technology development and application scenarios.
The initiative targets breakthroughs in cryptography, confidential computing, and distributed systems. It also includes developing national blockchain hub nodes and platforms for trusted digital identity.
Industries targeted include healthcare, education, AI, financial services, and transportation. The project aims to optimize business processes and ensure trustworthy data sharing.
By 2027, the project aims for petabyte-scale trusted node storage and large-scale blockchain interoperability. It also aims for a hundred-million-user-scale interoperable trusted identity system and at least 20 blockchain use cases.
