Tokenized US Treasuries Approach $6 Billion, BlackRock's BUIDL Dominates

Edited by: Elena Weismann

Tokenized US Treasuries, digital representations of traditional bonds operating on blockchain, are gaining significant traction, nearing an all-time high of $6 billion. This growth reflects increasing institutional confidence in blockchain technology for modernizing fixed-income markets.

Data indicates that tokenized treasuries on public blockchains have reached approximately $5.95 billion, marking a 43% surge since January. BlackRock's USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) leads the market with $2.47 billion in assets under management.

Launched in March 2024, BUIDL distributes daily dividends derived from short-term US Treasury assets. Each BUIDL token is backed one-to-one with the US dollar, providing investors with yield-bearing exposure similar to traditional Treasuries while functioning like a stablecoin.
