Emblem Vault CEO Loses $100K in Crypto After Zoom Meeting Hack

On April 11, 2024, Emblem Vault CEO Jake Gallen reported losing over $100,000 in Bitcoin and Ether after a Zoom meeting compromise. According to Cointelegraph, malware was installed during a call with a YouTube personality, facilitated by a threat actor known as "ELUSIVE COMET." The hacker exploited Zoom's default remote access feature, installing malware named "GOOPDATE" to steal credentials and access crypto wallets. Gallen also reported his Ledger wallet and X account were compromised. Cybersecurity firm SEAL identified "ELUSIVE COMET" as operating Aureon Capital and being responsible for millions in stolen funds.
