Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Sees $100M Issuance in April Amid New Security Feature

Edited by: Yuliya Shumai

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has seen significant activity, with over $100 million issued since April 1. A $50 million tranche was issued on Tuesday, followed by another $50 million on Wednesday. This surge coincides with Ripple integrating RLUSD into its payments product, with BKK Forex and iSend already utilizing it. The XRP Ledger now features a 'clawback' function since January, enabling Ripple to reclaim RLUSD tokens under specific conditions for regulatory compliance and fraud prevention. RLUSD is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar and is backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and cash equivalents.
