Binance Delists USDT Spot Trading in EEA to Comply with MiCA

Edited by: Yuliya Shumai

Binance discontinued spot trading pairs with Tether's USDt (USDT) in the European Economic Area (EEA) on March 31, aligning with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. While spot trading is halted, EEA users can still custody USDT and trade it in perpetual contracts. Kraken also delisted USDT spot trading pairs in the EEA, restricting it to sell-only mode as of March 24. Despite these changes, custody and transfer services for non-MiCA compliant stablecoins remain permissible under current European cryptocurrency laws, according to a March 5 statement from ESMA.
