On March 27, the Sei Foundation announced its interest in acquiring the bankrupt genetic testing company 23andMe to migrate its data infrastructure to the Sei blockchain. The Foundation aims to protect user data sovereignty, especially considering 23andMe's recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The acquisition aligns with Sei's mission to give individuals control over their genetic information, allowing them to manage how their data is shared, monetized, or stored. This move is also a strategic push into Decentralized Science (DeSci), potentially integrating genetic science into the blockchain. Currently, tokens tied to DeSci initiatives have a combined market value exceeding $657 million.
