Convicted Fraudster William Parker Identified as Crypto Trader Who Made Millions on Trump's Announcement

Edited by: Elena Weismann

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT identified William Parker, a convicted fraudster, as the crypto trader who profited significantly from Donald Trump's recent announcement regarding a U.S. strategic crypto reserve. Parker reportedly made $6.8 million by going long on Bitcoin (BTC) just before the announcement and then secured another $9 million by shorting BTC as the price corrected. All positions were executed with 50x leverage, a high-risk strategy. On-chain data suggests Parker's wallet frequently interacted with crypto-based online casinos and was linked to a phishing website in January, receiving $17.1K from a phishing draining customer. Parker was convicted and sentenced to 2 1/2 years in jail in Finland last year for stealing $1 million from two casinos in 2023 and previously served time in the U.K. for fraud charges related to hacking and gambling.
