On Thursday, American crypto exchange Kraken announced its acquisition of futures trading platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion. This move aims to bolster Kraken's expansion efforts and solidify its position as a 24/7 trading platform for both traditional and crypto markets. Kraken's co-CEO, Arjun Sethi, highlighted the acquisition as a step towards becoming an institutional-grade trading platform for any asset. The exchange, with a 24-hour trading volume of $1.3 billion, also plans to venture into equities trading and payments. This announcement follows the resolution of a lawsuit with the SEC earlier this month and confirmed plans for Kraken to go public.
