Deutsche Boerse's Clearstream, based in Germany, is set to launch cryptocurrency custody and settlement services for institutional clients in April 2025. According to a Bloomberg report on March 11, the trading unit plans to offer Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) custody to its over 2,500 institutional clients through its Swiss subsidiary, Crypto Finance AG, acquired in 2021. Clearstream also aims to support other cryptocurrencies and services like staking and lending. This move follows the full implementation of Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) in Europe on December 30, 2024, and aligns with the growing institutional demand for regulated crypto services. Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody became Germany's first fully licensed crypto asset service provider under MiCA on January 17.
