Phantom Wallet Rises in App Store

On November 20, 2024, the digital asset wallet Phantom achieved the second position in the Utilities section of the Apple App Store in the United States, surpassing major applications such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. This surge in popularity is indicative of Web3's growing mainstream acceptance.

Phantom, primarily used within the Solana ecosystem, also supports various networks and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The wallet's success aligns with a notable increase in decentralized applications (DApps) on Solana, which generated record fees. On November 18, DefiLlama reported that five of the top ten protocols by fees were on Solana, with Jito and Raydium alone generating $9.87 million and $11.3 million in fees, respectively.

Phantom's rise follows a recent update that addressed a bug causing some users to be locked out of their wallets. Although the company cannot assist with the recovery of lost funds, it has encouraged affected users to contact support for help.
