Zoox, Amazon's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, has launched its first mass-production factory for robotaxis in Hayward, California.
The 20,000-square-meter facility aims to produce over 10,000 autonomous vehicles per year.
The factory will handle all stages of robotaxi production, including engineering, software and hardware integration, final assembly, component storage, logistics, and end-of-line testing.
Zoox plans to deploy its robotaxis in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Austin, and Miami.
Zoox, founded in 2014 and acquired by Amazon in 2020 for over $1.2 billion, is competing with Waymo and Tesla in the autonomous mobility sector.
