Tesla is set to resume importing parts from China to the U.S. for the production of its Cybercab and Semi models by the end of May 2025. This decision follows a temporary easing of trade tariffs between the U.S. and China.
The U.S. and China reached an agreement to reduce tariffs, with U.S. levies on Chinese goods dropping to 30%, and Chinese levies on U.S. goods falling to 10%. This de-escalation reverses a previous decision to halt shipments after increased tariffs threatened the production schedules of the Cybercab in Texas and the Semi in Nevada.
Tesla plans to begin trial production of both the Cybercab and Semi models in October, with mass production slated for 2026. The Cybercab, designed as an autonomous electric taxi, will be produced in Texas, while the Semi trucks will be manufactured in Nevada.
