Gates acknowledged being seen as overly optimistic but framed his stance as realism based on ongoing progress. He highlighted the Gates Foundation's plan to allocate US$200 billion over 20 years to reduce preventable maternal and child deaths and combat diseases.
He also emphasized the role of technological advancements, particularly AI, in accelerating the foundation's goals. Gates cited WHO data showing a significant drop in global child mortality rates since 1990 and urged other billionaires to increase their philanthropic contributions.
