IBM has announced a significant investment of $150 billion in the United States over the next five years. The plan aims to boost the American economy and strengthen IBM's position as a global leader in computing.
A substantial portion of this investment, over $30 billion, will be dedicated to research and development. This will support the continued American manufacturing of mainframe and quantum computers.
According to IBM Chairman, President, and CEO Arvind Krishna, this investment ensures that IBM remains at the forefront of advanced computing and AI capabilities. The company will continue to design, build, and assemble quantum computers in America.
IBM operates one of the world's largest fleets of quantum computer systems. The company's Quantum Network provides access to these systems for nearly 300 Fortune 500 companies, academic institutions, national laboratories, and startups, with over 600,000 active users.
