Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto updated President Prabowo Subianto on trade negotiations between Indonesia and the United States on April 28, 2025.

U.S. officials, including representatives from USTR, the Secretary of Commerce, the National Economic Council, Amazon, and Google, have expressed appreciation for Indonesia's efforts to strengthen trade relations.

Indonesia's proposals, submitted on April 7 and 9, 2025, were deemed comprehensive, addressing both tariff and non-tariff issues, as well as plans to balance trade. Indorama plans a USD2 billion investment in Louisiana for a blue ammonia project.

Indonesia seeks equal export tariffs with countries like Vietnam and Bangladesh. The USTR will continue negotiations with Indonesia, and both countries signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

President Subianto approved three new task forces: Trade Negotiation, Investment, and Economic Security; Job Creation and Layoff Mitigation; and Policy Deregulation, aiming to accelerate negotiations and strengthen Indonesia's global trade position.
