Maximilian Crown, co-founder of MoonPay, has been appointed as the new CEO of the TON Foundation, effective immediately. The TON Foundation, which supports The Open Network (TON) blockchain, aims to leverage Crown's experience to expand its presence in the payments sector.

Crown's background includes serving as CFO and COO at MoonPay, where he navigated regulatory landscapes and secured operational approvals across multiple countries. The TON Foundation aims to integrate traditional financial systems with decentralized technologies. His expertise is expected to drive the adoption of TON-based solutions.

TON powers Telegram's shopping, payments, and gaming functionalities. The blockchain's active user numbers have surpassed 40 million in the past year and has 121 million Toncoin holders. While Telegram faced regulatory challenges with its cryptocurrency, Gram, in the past, the open-source community has continued to develop TON.
