Blue Origin Launches All-Female Crew Into Space

Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin successfully launched its New Shepard rocket on Monday, April 14, 2025, carrying an all-female crew including Katy Perry, Gayle King, and Lauren Sanchez. The suborbital flight, which lasted approximately 10 minutes, reached an altitude of 66 miles (107 kilometers) above Earth, beyond the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space.

The NS-31 mission included film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, and scientist Amanda Nguyen. Blue Origin did not disclose the cost of the flight. The mission marked Blue Origin's 11th human spaceflight.

This flight was the first U.S. spaceflight with an all-female crew since Valentina Tereshkova's solo spaceflight in 1963. Sanchez stated that she chose women who are making a difference in the world to inspire both young and old to dream big. The crew expressed awe and gratitude after experiencing weightlessness and viewing Earth from space.
