Google to Launch Africa Cloud Region in March, Boosting Local AI and Data Capabilities

Johannesburg, South Africa - Google will officially launch its Africa cloud region in March, aiming to boost AI and data capabilities for businesses across Southern Africa. Digicloud Africa, Google's reseller enablement partner, reports strong customer and reseller network growth since the initial announcement in 2022. The new data center in Johannesburg allows regulated institutions, like banks, to conduct AI and machine learning projects locally. It also addresses latency concerns for businesses. The center features BigQuery and other data-centric services, aligning with Google's focus on data analytics and AI. Digicloud Africa has expanded its partner network to 160 across Africa, providing support for data, AI, Google Workspace, and infrastructure solutions. Digicloud will launch awareness campaigns ahead of the March 19 launch.
