Y Combinator's Spring 2025 Batch Focuses on AI Applications

Y Combinator (YC), the renowned US accelerator, is seeking founders with ideas for AI agents, better ways to handle GPU overload, and AI-powered security for its Spring 2025 batch. The application deadline is February 11th.

YC partners are particularly interested in various new ways to leverage and deploy artificial intelligence (AI). The investors, including President and CEO Garry Tan and group partners Diana Hu and Michael Seibel, share their thoughts in the latest edition of "Requests for Startups" (RFS), typically published annually. However, in line with the rapid pace of AI innovation, the RFS for Spring 2025 was released just three months after the previous one.

YC believes AI agents will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of startups. They see opportunities in developing personal AI assistants capable of handling everyday tasks like scheduling, email organization, and travel planning. By automating these functions, AI-powered agents could free up time for individuals and businesses, leading to greater efficiency in both professional and personal settings.

YC also sees opportunities in improving computing power during the testing phase, reducing latency, and boosting model performance for real-world deployment. Founders with experience in systems programming, capable of building fundamental infrastructure to support the next generation of computing, are also encouraged to apply.

YC is also interested in startups developing AI-based compliance tools. These tools can make risk assessments more efficient, automate reporting, and monitor regulatory compliance in real-time. The goal of such tools: to help businesses reduce costs and stay ahead of the ever-growing regulatory demands.

YC is also open to seeing a new AI app store that protects user data while providing developer infrastructure and tools to help users find AI apps.
