Ulster Bank Returns Banking Licence in Ireland

Edited by: Elena Weismann

Ulster Bank Ireland, a subsidiary of the UK-based NatWest Group, is returning its banking license to the Central Bank of Ireland. This marks the end of its 165-year presence in the Republic of Ireland.

The bank will now operate as Ulydien DAC, a retail credit firm, as it continues its phased withdrawal from the Irish market. Philip Duff will become Managing Director of Ulydien DAC.

Jane Howard, who led Ulster Bank since 2018, will become Chief Executive of NatWest's RBS International division in July.
