Chedraui Family's Financial Firms Accused of Fraud in Mexico

Edited by: Elena Weismann

Financial firms linked to the Chedraui family in Mexico, Consubanco and Opcipres, are under scrutiny for allegedly defrauding pensioners. The companies are accused of falsifying promissory notes with forged signatures to generate undue charges. This fraudulent activity targets IMSS pensioners in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Employees and executives are reportedly accessing databases illegally to target pensioners. They offer loans with preferential rates, which are then deducted over five years. However, the terms are allegedly altered after the contract is signed. In one case, a pensioner was offered a loan, but later presented with a falsified promissory note demanding higher payments. Despite returning the full loan amount, deductions continued from his pension. The affected client has filed a complaint with the authorities.
