This decision comes as the bank reports a significant increase in digital transactions, up 63% since 2019, while branch-based financial transactions have decreased by 61% over the same period. The closures will reduce Santander's branch network to 349 locations, including full-service branches, work cafes, and branches with reduced hours. Santander estimates that 93% of the UK population will remain within 10 miles of a branch.
