A vast coin collection, dubbed the 'Traveller Collection,' estimated to be worth over $100 million, is set to be auctioned off over the next three years. The collection, featuring approximately 15,000 coins from over 100 territories, was largely buried underground for over 50 years. The original collector, who remains anonymous, began acquiring gold coins after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, traveling extensively with his wife through the Americas and Europe to amass a collection of rare and historically significant coins. Fearing the rise of Nazism, the collector buried the coins in aluminum boxes. Highlights include a 1629 100 ducat gold coin of Ferdinand III and a rare set of five Tomans minted in the late 18th and early 19th century. The first sale is scheduled for May 20th.
