Leonard Cohen's Personal Items Fetch Thousands at Auction: Notebook Sells for $120,650

Leonard Cohen's personal memorabilia, including handwritten poems and a lock of his hair, were auctioned off for thousands of dollars last Friday. Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles hosted the event, billing it as the largest auction of Cohen's private effects, featuring nearly 170 items. A 76-page notebook filled with poems and lyrics to "Treaty" and "It's Torn" fetched the highest price at $120,650. A first edition of Cohen's first poetry book, "Let Us Compare Mythologies," sold for $15,015, while handwritten pages of poems from 1968 went for $22,920 and $18,770 respectively. Items from Cohen's time in Greece also found buyers, including a key to his house on the island of Hydra, which sold for $28,154, and a Greek fisherman's cap for $11,261. A locket containing Cohen's hair sold for $7,334.
