Angel Art Auction to Benefit Fire Victims and Project Angel Food, Featuring Lost Rauschenberg Replica

The Angel Art auction, benefitting Project Angel Food and victims of recent Los Angeles fires, returns after a pandemic hiatus. The event, featuring both a live auction on February 27th and an online auction from February 13th-27th, aims to raise approximately $500,000 for the organization, which provides meals to individuals with critical illnesses. Artist Alexandra Grant, honorary chair of the auction, emphasized the increased need for Project Angel Food's services due to the pandemic, strikes, and fires. Melissa Rivers, whose home was destroyed in the Palisades Fire, is also involved, highlighting the personal impact of the disaster. The auction will feature over 60 works, including a replica of a Rauschenberg lithograph that Rivers lost in the fire, estimated to sell for $7,000 to $10,000. Grant has also donated two works initially intended for a 2020 Project Angel Food fundraiser that was canceled. Ahead of the auction, works by Elizabeth Neel and Margo Wolowiec will be on view at Bonhams Los Angeles during the Frieze Los Angeles art fair, with proceeds benefiting wildfire victims. Tickets to the gala event and live auction are $250.
