Los Cabos: A Hub for Medical Tourism and Sustainable Growth

Edited by: Елена 11

Los Cabos, Mexico, is rapidly becoming a leading destination for medical tourism, driven by significant investments in healthcare and urban development. The CHRISTUS MUGUERZA hospital, a state-of-the-art facility, is currently under construction along the Cabo San Lucas–San José del Cabo corridor.

Scheduled to open in the first half of 2028, the hospital will offer 72 beds, 44 medical offices, and specialized clinics, including a dedicated Breast Health Center. The facility will provide nearly 30 medical specialties, such as cardiology, oncology, and neurosurgery.

In addition to healthcare advancements, Los Cabos is experiencing substantial urban development to accommodate its rapid growth. President Claudia Sheinbaum's recent visit highlighted key projects, including a new hospital and infrastructure upgrades.

A notable project is the Fonatur Roundabout Overpass in San José del Cabo, a 1.1-kilometer underpass designed to alleviate traffic congestion. Construction began in May 2025, with completion expected within 12 months.

These developments are part of Mexico's 2025 National Tourism Masterplan, which designates Los Cabos as a Sustainable Tourism Development Zone. This initiative prioritizes biodiversity, renewable energy, and disaster-resistant infrastructure.

Los Cabos aims to power 60% of its tourism infrastructure with solar and wind energy by 2025. The region's commitment to enhancing healthcare services and infrastructure is expected to attract more medical tourists.

With its picturesque landscapes and modern amenities, Los Cabos continues to be a top choice for those combining medical treatments with leisure. This blend of healthcare and hospitality makes it a unique destination.
