Halkidiki presented its spring attractions to 18 travel industry experts from 11 countries during a familiarization (FAM) trip held from May 6-8, 2025. This initiative, co-organized by the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), marked its fifth year and aimed to highlight the destination's appeal beyond the peak summer season.
HTO President Grigoris Tasios emphasized the importance of such partnerships in broadening the destination's global reach. The FAM trip promoted experiences showcasing the area's authentic character.
Guests explored attractions such as the Petralona Cave and its newly opened museum. They also enjoyed a cruise around Mount Athos, viewing its unique monastic architecture and sampling traditional Greek monastic cuisine. The group also dined at a seaside taverna and explored Ouranoupoli. Participants praised Halkidiki's natural beauty, gastronomy, and hospitality.
The FAM trip followed Halkidiki's participation in the Connect Tourism & Travel Event in Thessaloniki. Local tourism professionals engaged in B2B meetings with international buyers. TUI NORDIC Finland plans to launch operations in Halkidiki starting in 2026.
