North Macedonia and Kosovo Enhance Border Crossing with 'One Stop Shop' System for Smoother Travel and Trade

The border crossing between North Macedonia and Kosovo is set to become significantly more efficient with the introduction of the "One Stop Shop" system at the Blace-Elez Han border crossing. This initiative, celebrated with an official ceremony, aims to streamline border checks, reducing wait times and facilitating smoother passage for travelers and goods. The new system integrates physical and digital infrastructure, enabling a single point of control for border crossings. Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, emphasized that this modern approach will not only expedite border procedures but also foster stronger collaboration between the two countries. Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, highlighted the importance of these joint border controls in promoting regional cooperation and improving the overall experience for citizens traveling between the two nations. He noted that in 2024, over 5 million citizens crossed the borders between Kosovo and North Macedonia, underscoring the significance of efficient border management. Kurti also stated that the new model of border crossing, based on the "in-out" principle, is an example of a concrete and practical approach to increasing trust between countries. The premiers of both countries symbolically marked the beginning of the new border crossing regime, signifying a commitment to modernizing border operations and strengthening ties between North Macedonia and Kosovo.
