Montenegro is shifting its tourism focus towards developing authentic rural experiences to cater to modern travelers seeking unique cultural immersion. Minister Simonida Kordić emphasized that this strategy involves actively engaging local communities to create a diverse and attractive tourism product.
Speaking at the AIM Congress in Abu Dhabi, Kordić highlighted the evolving preferences of tourists, who now prioritize authentic experiences and cultural heritage. This shift has become more pronounced since the COVID-19 pandemic, necessitating a focus on high-quality tourism that aligns with these new trends.
The ministry is also committed to preserving natural resources while making them accessible to all, with sustainability remaining a key policy. Efforts include promoting renewable energy through energy efficiency programs. While prioritizing rural tourism, Montenegro continues to welcome luxury resorts and hotels, solidifying its position in the luxury tourism market.
