Cyprus' tourism sector is celebrating a record-breaking year, welcoming over 4 million visitors and generating more than €3 billion in revenue, announced Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis. This surge is attributed to a 6% increase in air travel routes, notably a 9% rise in flights to and from Germany. The full resumption of services by an airline further enhances global connectivity, fueling optimism for the tourist season. Koumis highlighted initiatives to extend the tourism season, focusing on the quieter months. While acknowledging potential global economic concerns, he anticipates minimal impact on Cyprus, as most visitors are from Europe, where travel is prioritized. Addressing labor shortages, Koumis noted streamlined job application processes to alleviate the issue and further reduce unemployment. The tourism sector's expansion has significantly contributed to job creation and reduced unemployment in Cyprus.
