Yesterday we put together a selection of costumes for the Halloween holiday, but what if we dressed dogs every day? All the more so because breeds like the dachshund, the Chihuahua and other short-haired little ones are simply made for it. They love to dress up, since their coat is not very thick and they need extra protection from bad weather. Although it all depends on the individual dog. Even a Labrador, a retriever or a shepherd can love dressing up if you accustom them to it from puppyhood, and of course if the dog doesn't refuse to wear it outright! We present to you several everyday costumes and outfits for your pet's pleasure, comfort and enjoyment.
🌧️ Why does a dog need everyday clothes? 🧥
If a festive costume is a tribute to fashion and emotions for 15 minutes, then everyday clothing solves important practical tasks:
1. Thermoregulation. Protection from cold in winter and from overheating (sunburn) in summer.
2. Hygiene. Overalls keep dirt and de-icing chemicals from getting onto the coat and skin. After a walk in a raincoat, it is enough to wipe the paws rather than wash the whole dog.
3. Protection from allergens. Dense fabric keeps poplar fluff, pollen and mites from coming into contact with the skin.
4. Psychological comfort. Some dogs (especially anxious ones) feel more confident in snug cotton overalls that work like a "thunder shirt."
👗 The Basic Wardrobe: What to Wear Every Day?
1. Raincoats and waterproof overalls 🌧️
For whom: For everyone, especially for dachshunds, corgis, spaniels and terriers (those who love to dive into puddles and bushes).
Features: A quality raincoat is made from a membrane fabric that does not let water through from the outside but removes heat from the inside. A hood (or a high collar) and wind protection for the zipper are a must.
Style: Classic bright colors (yellow, red) or stylish military/casual.
2. Sweaters, hoodies and turtlenecks 🧶
For whom: For short-haired and small breeds (Chihuahuas, toy terriers, boxers, Dobermans).
Features: Ideal for cool autumn and spring days. Turtlenecks with a high neck are a must-have for brachycephalic breeds (pugs, bulldogs) so they don't catch a chill in their neck in a draft.
Materials: Fleece, soft cotton, merino wool (if there is no allergy). Avoid scratchy synthetics!
3. Summer T-shirts and cotton tank tops ☀️
For whom: For dogs with short white coats (Dalmatians, bull terriers, white boxers) that burn easily, as well as for "hairless" breeds.

Features: Light, breathable fabrics protect from direct sunlight and mosquito bites in the park.
Style: Stripes, nautical themes, funny prints or minimalist solid colors in the "off-duty" style.
4. Indoor pajamas and onesies 🌙

For whom: For Chinese Cresteds, Xoloitzcuintlis, and also for any dogs living in apartments with cold floors or drafts.
Features: Soft cotton jumpsuits with snap buttons. They keep your pet warm during sleep and prevent them from getting cold if they lie on tile.
Fun fact: Many dogs perceive pajamas as a signal: "Time to sleep and rest."
5. Terry robes and towel jumpsuits 🛁
For whom: For all long-haired and thick-coated breeds (Huskies, Shelties, Spitzes), as well as for those who love swimming in bodies of water.
Features: They are put on right after bathing or a walk in the rain. Microfiber or terry cloth absorbs moisture while you walk home and keeps the dog from catching a cold.
📏 How to choose the perfect everyday outfit?
Since a dog wears such clothing for hours rather than posing for photos, the requirements for it are much stricter than for Halloween costumes:
1. Freedom of movement. Lift the paws of a dog dressed in the outfit, sit it down, ask it to lie down. The clothing should not pull, press on the groin, or chafe the armpits.
2. Natural fabrics. A dog's skin breathes too. Cotton, bamboo, linen, high-quality membrane — these are your friends. Cheap synthetics cause a greenhouse effect, heat rash, and allergies.
3. Safe hardware. Zippers must have inner flaps so they don't pinch fur and skin. Velcro must be covered with fabric flaps so that fur doesn't get stuck in it. No sharp rhinestones or small parts that can be chewed off!
4. Access to gear. Everyday jumpsuits and jackets should have special slits or loops on the back so that a leash can be clipped to a harness or collar without taking off the clothing.
5. Correct measurements. Take measurements: back length (from the withers to the tail), neck circumference, and chest circumference (the widest point). Don't rely only on size "S" or "M" — different brands have their own size charts.
🎨 Everyday chic: Family Look
A great trend of recent years is dressing your dog in the same style as yourself.
* Do you wear a plaid shirt? Find a jumpsuit for your dog in the same plaid.
* Love sporty track jackets? Buy your pet a hoodie with the same print.

* Not only does it look incredibly cute on walks, but it also creates a special feeling of unity between the owner and their four-legged friend.

The main rule of everyday style: If a dog in clothing runs easily, doesn't try to chew it, and happily goes for a walk — you've found the perfect outfit. And if your pet prefers their own natural "fur coat" — respect their choice, because the best clothing for a dog is a happy smile on their face and a loving owner by their side! 🐾❤️
