Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) in Virginia has introduced an innovative adoption program. It's called Foster to Furever, and it allows people to foster adoptable dogs for a week.
This program gives potential adopters a "trial run" to see if a dog is a good fit for their family and home. To be eligible, dogs must be at least 6 months old and spayed or neutered.
A $100 adoption fee is required to participate. The trial foster period lasts seven days. RACC's adoption coordinators will provide support and answer any questions during this time.
Currently, the program is only available for dogs due to the high adoption rate of cats at the shelter.
