Buenos Aires hosted the third annual "Festival de Canes" at Carlos Thays Park. This event celebrates the bond between people and their dogs. The festival was inspired by dogs walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Dogs and their owners walked a special "pet carpet." The festival included the "Paticortos" contest, featuring homemade short films starring dogs. A jury of Argentine celebrities judged the films. Winners received the "Palm Dog" award and prizes. The festival also showed dog-themed movies and had adoption campaigns. The festival has grown quickly since 2022. Over 4,000 people attended in 2024, and even more came this year. The event creates a fun parallel with the Cannes Film Festival, making pet owners and their dogs feel like stars.
