Sindhi Integration into AI Open Linguistics Journal Launched

Amar Fayaz Burero of the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering advocates for Sindhi's integration into digital platforms, emphasizing the role of AI technologies like speech-to-text. He urges Sindhi speakers to contribute digital content for AI model representation. Burero also addressed the misclassification of Sindhi linguistics in education, calling for a separate discipline focusing on morphology, syntax, and semantics. He noted that DeepSeek has developed a Sindhi language model. Penn State University Libraries' Open Publishing has launched "Continua," an open-access, peer-reviewed journal for interdisciplinary linguistics research. Founded by Michael Putnam and David Natvig, "Continua" focuses on words, morphology, and the mental lexicon, examining how people understand words and their relation to sounds and meanings. The journal is accepting submissions and plans to publish one issue per year. La Fundació La Caixa has awarded doctoral fellowships to David Aquilué Llorens and Sandra Geladó Muñoz for their research at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Aquilué studies Alzheimer's disease mechanisms, while Geladó investigates multimodal communication development.
