The Venezuelan Ministry of Popular Power for Education announced the implementation of new methodologies for teaching Mathematics and Natural Sciences, scheduled to begin in the 2025-2026 school year, starting in September 2025. This initiative is part of a curricular update plan designed to strengthen learning in strategic areas of knowledge.
Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, reported that the new pedagogical documents were developed in collaboration with education specialists and experts in the mentioned disciplines. The plan underwent a national consultation to gather proposals and ensure its relevance to the needs of the Venezuelan educational system.
The final document will be delivered to teachers in September, who will be responsible for applying it in the classroom and generating feedback for future improvements. This proposal is part of a renewed pedagogical approach, focusing on the development of scientific competencies, logical-mathematical thinking, and a greater link between the curriculum and the realities of the Venezuelan context.
The update aims to modernize the Venezuelan educational system, adapting to the current and future demands of the country. There is also a growing interest among students in science, a result of the National Scientific Seedbeds Program, which seeks to encourage the active participation of young people in scientific and technological projects.
