Algeria to Equip Schools with Locally-Made Tablets by 2026

Edited by: Olga N

Algerian schools are set to benefit from a program distributing locally-made tablets. The initiative aims to equip at least 50% of schools with digital equipment by 2026. Nearly one million tablets will be distributed by the end of 2025. The goal is to alleviate the weight of students' schoolbags and improve learning conditions. It also aims to adapt education to digital advancements. The National Enterprise of Electronic Industries (ENIE) will produce two million tablets for 8,800 educational institutions in 2025. ENIE has already supplied similar electronic devices to schools nationwide in 2022 and 2023. The local integration rate in these devices has reached 30%. ENIE also plans to expand into smartphone production and other consumer electronics, including televisions and renewable energy projects.
