AICTE Chairman T.G. Sitharam emphasized continuous learning and skill development as crucial in the face of technological disruption at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology's graduation. He stated that skills and problem-solving are more valuable than degrees in the current environment. Sitharam cited Thiruvalluvar, noting the importance of applying knowledge practically. He highlighted AI's transformative role, necessitating constant upskilling to remain relevant. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice Chancellor V. Geethalakshmi noted the importance of engineering and innovation. Despite India's 6,000 engineering colleges producing 1.5 million graduates annually, only 45% are industry-ready. She urged students to focus on agriculture, developing sustainable solutions for the sector, which supports 55% of the population but contributes only 18% to the GDP. M. Karthikeyan, from the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, advised graduates to trust their instincts and not fear AI, which he said would assist, not replace, human capabilities. 1,465 students received degrees at the ceremony.
