Community-Based Tourism Empowers Youth in Puerto Rico and Municipal Support Boosts Technical Education

A collaborative initiative between the Bravo Family Foundation and the Network of Exceptional Community Leaders is certifying young adults from San Germán, Salinas, and Loíza, Puerto Rico, as tourist interpreter guides. This program, active since 2020, partners with local organizations like Casa Juan Pablo II, Las Mareas, and Centro Esperanza, providing resources for community development. These interpreter guides, unlike traditional tourist guides, are trained in the cultural, natural, and historical heritage of their regions, emphasizing environmental conservation and preservation.

In El Socorro, municipal support is strengthening technical education. The local government is committed to providing mental health support and resources to the Colegio Técnico Industrial ITIS, ensuring students have the necessary tools for technical training. These initiatives aim to empower youth by providing enriching work experiences and enhancing educational opportunities.
