The City Council of Teruel is transforming a concrete wall in Plaza de los Amantes into a vertical garden, aiming to enhance the environment and create a more pleasant space. This initiative is part of the Revitalization Plan for the Historic Center.
The vertical garden, covering approximately 87 square meters, will feature aromatic plant species and Corten steel plates to conceal irrigation pipes and manage water runoff. Vertical gardens are increasingly incorporating advanced technology, employing automated hydroponics and aeroponics systems that control the precise amount of water and nutrients delivered directly to the plant's roots, ensuring optimal growth.
The project is pending funding but is expected to become a reference in bioclimatic measures and sustainability, aligning with other recent green space initiatives in Teruel. With the use of technology, vertical gardens can be monitored remotely, allowing for efficient management and maintenance.
