A retrospective exhibition at the Madrid Design Festival celebrates the 25-year career of Valencian designer Héctor Serrano, recipient of the 2024 National Design Award. The exhibition, titled "Héctor Serrano: El viaje entremedias. 25 años conectando," showcases a diverse range of Serrano's work, emphasizing the conceptual thinking behind each design rather than chronological or typological order.
The exhibition, driven by DIMAD and curated by Tachy Mora, features objects like the Ballet luminaires, the Xaloc armchair, and the Horizonte bus.
Serrano's designs focus on connecting with users through familiarity and unexpected elements, such as material changes or technological innovations.
The exhibition also includes "Raíces," a solidarity project where Serrano crafts vases from roots collected after a devastating storm in Valencia, with proceeds benefiting the reconstruction of affected farmlands.
The exhibition highlights Serrano's design philosophy, emphasizing the creative journey and the integration of unexpected elements to create innovative and user-centric designs with a social conscience. The show is open to the public until March 30th at the Central de Diseño in Matadero Madrid.
